Brief Observe the noise levels in the school courtyard. Understand the properties of reverberation. Design a response to reduce reverberated sound.
Solution After studying and collecting reverberation data from various points in the courtyard we concluded that a volume with varying porosity was the best solution to tone down the noise levels in the yard. The installation would also give the students the option to hold private discussions and an open-to-sky pod that multi functioned as shading structure.
My Role Develop and optimise the sound absorbing structure. Make it a multifunctional social space and installation. Conceptualisation, design, programming and organizing presentation of the entire project. Using digital tools such as Grasshopper and Python definitions in Rhino to develop all details of the project.
